Question about mouse_event

Is there any way to cause this API function (or another similar function) do create a click event at a location where the cursor is not? Lets say my cursor is in the upper right corner of the screen, and I don't want my program to send an event to move the cursor, and then and event to click on a button. Is there any way to send a "mouse click" signal to any arbitrary point on the screen, so that the computer would THINK the mouse had clicked there, even though the cursor never moved to that point prior to the click being sent? I'm thinking about remote desktop type software (like VNC), so that I can control one of my computers from another computer, but without the mouse cursor on the receiving computer mimicking every motion I perform on the sending computer, just having Windows behave as if the mouse was moving and clicking.
